On Saturday, former House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara and former SGF Babachir Lawal met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike behind closed doors.
They met with Wike at his country home in Rumueprikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, after rejecting the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
As members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), both men have expressed their displeasure with the choice of Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, to pick Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate.
When Dogara emerged from the meeting, he declared that they were working to create a Nigeria that included everyone.
Everybody agrees with us that Governor Wike is one of those essential political leaders. “We want to build a Nigeria that includes everyone,” he said.
Our meeting with him is therefore an important part of the agenda setting process, and we’re here because of that. And the rest, well, maybe we can talk about that in the future.”
