Following a series of negotiations between the federal government and the terrorists, eleven of the passengers who were taken hostage during the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train have been released.

This information was shared on Saturday by Malam Tukur Mamu, who serves as a publisher and media consultant for Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

According to Mamu, the passengers were given their freedom by the terrorists on Saturday.

He stated that the 11 victims who were freed were flown on the orders of President Buhari to Abuja for medical evaluation and treatment prior to the decision to reunite them with their grieving families. He said that the decision to reunite them with their families came after the medical evaluation and treatment.

According to him, several retired Army Generals and a well-known professor also participated in the process of releasing the passengers from captivity.

On Friday, the terrorists also freed two of the hostages who had been taken hostage.

In Kaduna, on March 28, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated on board the train, which caused it to derail just a few minutes into the journey. Suspected terrorists were responsible for this incident.

Insurgents were responsible for the deaths of at least nine persons, injuries to thirty others, and the kidnapping of numerous others.
