Southampton put out a strong performance to end Manchester City 12 games wining run following a 1:1 draw at the Saint Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
Aymeric Laporte grabbed an equalizer for the visitors from a header to ensure Pep Guardiola’s men does not get beaten by a more determined Southampton team.
City have not lost a game since October 2021 after losing 2:0 to Crystal palace.

Although, the league leaders had a shaky display in the first half but soon found some rythm in the second half.
Nevertheless, some credit to Southampton’s energetic and never say die spirit gave them some pitch confidence to hold onto City pressure.
Southampton have only lost once in their last five league matches. The host improved from a disappointing 3:1 loss to Wolves last weekend.
However, the defending Champion still remains top of the table with 12 points clear of Liverpool who sits second with two games in hand.
Liverpool could close up a three point gap to city if they pick a win at Patrick Vieira’s Crystal palace on Sunday, while Chelsea will hope to defeat Tottenham Hotspur to ensure they keep some tab on City any possible loopholes.
City have only conceded 14 goals this season and scored 55 in twenty three games.
Pep Guardiola’s men still have a high percentage to sustain their league dominance when they get to face a staggering Brentford in their next league game, followed by relegation threat Norwich on 12th of February.
