Pep Guardiola has promoted Rodolfo Borrell to be his assistant manager following the departure of Juanma Lillo from the Manchester City coaching staff.

After stints at Barcelona and Liverpool, Borrell joined City in 2014.

Pep Guardiola brought in the 51-year-old Spaniard as a member of his coaching team at the Etihad Stadium in 2016.

Recently, Guardiola’s former assistant Lillo took over as head coach of Qatar Stars League team Al Sadd after departing the Premier League champions in the month of November.

Enzo Maresca has also rejoined City’s coaching staff.

Pep Guardiola has hired Maresca, the former head coach of Manchester City’s elite development group, as a member of his coaching staff.

As part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom team, “Manchester City are thrilled to announce that Enzo Maresca has returned to the club,” a City statement said on Tuesday.

As Juanma Lillo’s assistant coach, Rodolfo Borrell, who has been with City since 2014, will assume the post.
