Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has been detained in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) awaiting the outcome of his bail plea. On Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued the remand order.
Anyim Chinenye, an All Progressives Congress chieftain and former governor’s supporter, is anticipated to join Okorocha in EFCC detention. Okorocha, Chinenye, and five firms were charged with money laundering on 17 charges by the EFCC. Ekwo postponed the hearing on Okorocha and Chinenye’s bail petitions till Tuesday.
