Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has formally joined the Labour Party, just days after announcing his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party. He is expected to run for president on the platform of his new party.
“I thank all Nigerians, particularly our youths, who have joined me in the mission of reclaiming and reuniting Nigeria,” Obi said in a statement posted to his verified Twitter account.
“This project is for you and your children’s future.” I am simply a conduit. “Since resigning from the PDP due to issues at odds with my persona and principles, I have met with numerous parties and personalities to ensure we do not complicate the path to our desired destination.”
“For me, the process of achieving our goal is as important as what follows.” “As a result, I chose a path that I believe is consistent with our aspirations and my mantra of transitioning the country from consumption to production: the Labour Party, which is synonymous with the people, workers, development, production, securing, and uniting Nigerians as one family.” “I call on all Nigerians to join me in reclaiming our country.” “You can rest assured that I will never let you down.”
