This year’s third-fastest time was set by Tobi Amusan, who won her event in Paris.

Prior to the World Championships in Oregon, USA, Nigeria‘s Tobi Amusan is striking the perfect notes.

At the Diamond League event in Paris, France, the sprint hurdler created a new African record on Saturday, finishing first in the 100m hurdles in 12.41 seconds.

Before Saturday’s race, Amusan had already broken the African record set by her compatriot Gloria Alozie, who had held the record for decades.

However, the 25-year-old has now broken his own personal best time of 12.41 seconds, which he set at the Diamond League in Zurich nine months ago.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the defending Olympic champion who ran 12.37 seconds earlier this month in Rome, Italy, and Alaysha Johnson of the United States, who ran 12.40 seconds just seven days ago in New York City, are the two fastest runners in the world in 2022.

Amusan was widely expected to win the Diamond League’s Paris leg, and the Nigerian superstar did not disappoint, winning in record-breaking style.

She now has a total of 15 points after securing eight maximum points. It is expected that Amusan will take home $10,000 in prize money.

Following her victory in the 100-meter hurdles at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, Amusan’s newest triumph comes just days after her previous triumph in that event.

At the Mauritius senior athletics championship in Mauritius, Amusan successfully defended her African title as well as helping Team Nigeria win gold in the 4x100m Women’s Relay event.

On June 24 to 26, Amusan will compete at the Nigerian Athletics Championships in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

The defending Nigerian 100m hurdles champion is expected to defend her title at the Yaba College of Technology Sports facility, where she won it last year.
