Kashim Shettima, a senator and former governor of Borno, has stated that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), lacks the capacity to rule Nigeria, and that Bola Tinubu is the best candidate for the job.

When Shettima appeared on Channels Television on Friday night, he said these things.

He believes that, despite being a good and nice man, the vice president is unfit to lead.

“Osinbajo is a good, nice, and decent man, but nice men don’t make good leaders because they are prone to being nasty.” He suggested that they sell ice cream, popcorn, and ‘gbagbologbo.’

Senator Shettima also shot down rumors that Tinubu will step down in favor of Osinbajo at the APC’s upcoming national convention.

“How are you going to get an elephant to step down for Lilliputians?” When asked specifically if Mr Tinubu was willing to give up his ambition and support the vice president or any of the party’s other 23 presidential candidates, Mr Shettima said.

“Reported claims that Mr Tinubu would resign” are “just speculations,” Mr Shettima said, adding that “the issue of anointing a consensus” is also “just speculation.”

The senator, who has accompanied Mr Tinubu on his campaign trail across the country, said the campaign would accept nothing less than a free and fair primary.
