Nigerian Author and Director of “Half of a Yellow Sun”, Biyi Bandele is Dead

It has been announced that the Nigerian author Biyi Bandele, who directed the movie, Half of a Yellow Sun and co-created Blood Sisters, has died.

His daughter, Temi Bandele, made the announcement on his Facebook page on Monday.

My father Biyi Bandele passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7th in Lagos, according to a statement from his daughter.

He was a prolific writer and filmmaker, as well as a loyal friend and cherished father. A storyteller at heart, he conveyed his wisdom and unwavering point of view through poetry, books, plays, and films of all mediums. He was a master storyteller who left a lasting impression on listeners all around the world. His art will serve as a lasting tribute to him.
