Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, a former Minister of State for Defence, has been defeated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos West Senatorial primaries. Mrs. Idiat Adebule, a former deputy governor of Lagos State, defeated Obanikoro. On Friday, Rep. Babajide Obanikoro (APC-Etiosa) lost the APC ticket for re-election to the House of Representatives in the area.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Adebule defeated Obanikoro with 424 votes to 119, and third aspirant Mr. Kayode Opeifa received four votes. According to Mr. Emeka Okafor, APC Electoral Returning Officer, who announced the results, Adebule received 424 votes to become the Lagos West APC Senatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections.

According to him, Adebule received 424 votes, Obanikoro received 119 votes, and Opeifa received four votes. “There were 557 votes cast in total, with 10 invalid votes.” “I hereby declare Dr Idiat Adebule the winner of the APC Lagos West Senatorial Primaries,” he said. In her acceptance speech, Adebule thanked the party leaders and delegates for their contributions to her victory.

The former deputy governor urged voters to give the party their full support in the 2023 general election. She assured constituents that they would be properly and fairly represented in the National Assembly. Obanikoro left the polling station before the counting was completed and declined to comment.
