Chelsea Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is the “The Best” goal keeper 2021 as well as Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski who is named FIFA’s “Best” men’s player
Mendy was given the award at the FIFA’s “Best” player awards ceremony held in Zurich Switzerland.
Mendy, was exceptional for Chelsea last year after contributing immensely to the blues Champions League win.
The Senegalese who is currently in Cameroon for the ongoing African Nation’s Cup picked the award ahead of PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who won Euro 2020 with Italy.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski beat Lionel Messi and Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah to emerge FIFA’s top men’s best player.
Lewandowski, terrific form saw him retain the award he won last year following his immense contribution to his team.
A bit of consolation for the Polish International who missed out of Ballon D’or award some months ago.
“Thank you very much. I am very honoured to win this trophy and feel proud. I know it belongs to my team-mates and coaches. We all work hard to win the games. It is special to work with these guys around me”, Lewandowski said.
For other categories, Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela’s strike for Tottenham in north London derby earned best goal of the year award.
Cristiano Ronaldo also won award following his 115 goal scored for Portugal
Chelsea Coach Thomas Tuchel also won the “Best” manager award after he led the Blues to the UEFA Champions League success.
