Lagos State Government To Form Two New Universities

The Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin and the Michael Otedola College of Primary Education Epe would be merged together in order to form a university of education according to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Governor made this known at a book launch where he was invited as a special Guest of Honour.
Speaking further, the governor noted that the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, would be turned to a university of science, of which will take effect upon approval by the National Universities Commission, NUC and relevant bodies.
He said that the formulation of the Universities will enhance better learning experience while stating that the state Government is committed to funding all tertiary Institutions under it.
About the book, titled “Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe @60: Audacity of Resilience”.was launched in honour of the Vice Chancellor the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
Professor Ogundipe once a lecturer at the University of Lagos became a professor of Botany in 2002. He was Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies from August 2007 to July 2011 and Director, Academic Planning Unit from April 2012 to April 2016.
He was appointed as the vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos in November 2017 having emerged highest in the interview conducted, beating Professor Olukayode Amund, and Professor Ayodeji Olukoju to the post. Until his appointment in November, he was the deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos.
