President of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party Bola Ahmed Tinubu claims to have submitted the name of his running-mate to the Electoral Commission of Nigeria.
On Friday, the media office for the former Lagos governor released a statement confirming this.
“Duly completed nomination documents” were submitted to INEC, but he didn’t reveal his running mate’s identity.
Running mates’ names must be included in order to complete the paperwork.
A Katsina politician, Kabir Ibrahim Masari, was chosen as Tinubu’s running mate in order to make the INEC deadline.
After returning his nomination forms, Tinubu said, “As required by the election law and INEC timeline, HE Asawáji Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted his duly filled nomination nomination forms to INEC,” in a statement published by his media office. It was two days ahead of schedule when the forms were returned on Wednesday, June 15.
HE Aswáji Tinubu stands ready to run in the February 25, 2023 presidential election to bring progressive and excellent government to our people,” he said in a statement released by the Nigerian People’s Party.
