INEC Presents Certificate of Return to Ademola Adeleke

Ademola Adeleke was declared the victor in the election for governor of Osun State on Saturday, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has now issued him a Certificate of Return.

As a result of the People’s Democratic Party’s success at the Osun governorship election on Saturday, Adeleke was able to collect his Certificate of Return from the INEC State Office in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The presentation takes place about four days after it was determined on Sunday that he was the winner of the votes.

David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, is a prominent artist. On Tuesday, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that his uncle had not been given his Certificate of Return more than 48 hours after his triumph.

In a perfect world, the commission would issue the certificate no more than twenty-four hours after the victor of an election was declared.

Festus Okoye, the electoral umpire’s spokesman, responded to Davido by explaining that the law provides the electoral umpire 14 days within which to issue the certificate. This explanation was given in answer to Davido’s question.
