The convoy of Ifeanyi Ubah, senator for Anambra South in the National Assembly, was ambushed by gunmen on Sunday in the Njikoka local government area of Enugu State.
According to reports, the assailants opened fire on the convoy, taking the lives of a number of the senator’s aides as well as some police officers.
About four trucks in the convoy of the federal politician were shown on film showing the lifeless bodies of deceased police officers.
Iyke Orji, a social media user, said that “hired killers” had attacked Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah in Enugwu Ukwu that day. This was an intentional try. This was not the work of the spur of the moment.
Data about the timing of travel and launch was compiled. A group of roughly four police officers were attacked.
Every last one of their weapons was confiscated. The youngest of the attackers was only nine years old.
However, a different source (who also requested anonymity) claimed that six police officers had been murdered during the incident.
At the time of publication, Senator Ubah’s line was continuously engaged, making it impossible to reach him for comment.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the police in Enugu State, acknowledged the attack but said the number of casualties was still unknown.
He confirmed that there had been an attack at Enugwu-Ukwu today but that the number of casualties remained unclear. Right now, as we speak, the situation is back to normal thanks to the CP, who arrived on the site with a squad of soldiers under his command.
He assured reporters that they will be given a full report on the Command’s conclusions.
