The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received an announcement of resignation from Ibrahim Masari, who was serving as a placeholder for the role of running mate to the party’s presidential nominee.

On Sunday, Masari sent a letter to members of the APC in which he announced his desire to step down as chairman of the party.

In June, it was decided that Masari would serve as Tinubu’s running partner, however this was only a temporary appointment.

It is anticipated that a substantial running partner for the 2023 presidential race will be announced in the near future.

The following is an excerpt from the letter that was sent out by Masari and included his signature: “This is to inform our esteemed party leaders under our able President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), teeming party members and the great people of Nigeria, of the outcome of a crucial discussion I just had with the flagbearer of our great party, the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Following a heatedly contested presidential primary in advance of the general election in 2023, Asiwaju Tinubu chose me as his running mate a month ago. This nomination afforded me the singular honor and privilege of serving in this capacity.

“However, I’ve given this a lot of thought, and after speaking with a larger variety of people, I’ve decided to stand down. I came to the realization that by making this choice, I would be granting Asiwaju more leeway to make more accommodations and include more people, which would put our party in a better position to win the upcoming elections with the backing of the people of Nigeria.

“Although I am resigning from this position, I firmly think that I can continue to serve both our party and the country in a variety of different roles.

“I desire to confirm that I have submitted my withdrawal letter and an affidavit to that effect as the vice-presidential candidate to Asiwaju Bola TInubu in the upcoming elections. ” “I wish to confirm that I have submitted my withdrawal letter and an affidavit to that effect.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to sincerely thank Asiwaju Tinubu — the incoming President, Insha Allah — for his trust in me, and we promise to remain steadfast in our support for him and the party. I would like to express my gratitude by saying, “On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to thank Asiwaju Tinubu for his trust in me.”
