In a tweet announcing the UK Nigeria Migration agreement, Home Secretary Priti Patel stated that the new “landmark agreement with Nigeria will enhance the deportation of dangerous foreign criminals to make our streets and nation safer.”
On Thursday, the British government revealed a new migration collaboration with Nigeria.
She noted that the UK Nigeria Migration agreement will target human smugglers in an effort to combat illegal immigration.
Forbes stated that the news coincided with the deportation of 21 Nigerian and Ghanaian nationals from the United Kingdom.
A total of thirteen Nigerians were deported to Lagos, while eight Ghanaians proceeded on to Ghana.
Two weeks ago, the European court of human rights granted a last-minute injunction to prevent the deportation of asylum seekers from the United Kingdom to Rwanda, which would have marked the beginning of the UK-Rwanda agreement announced on April 14.
