FRSC To Begin Driver’s License Check

In two weeks, not less than 432 different types of vehicles have been arrested for their drivers not without a driver’s license in Lagos State said the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The arrests were made following an operation to show your driver’s license which began Oct. 4 to Oct.10.
This was disclosed on Monday by FRSC Commander in Lagos, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to Ogungbemide 252 of the arrested vehicles were commercial vehicles, while 180 were vehicles from private drivers.
He said that many drivers couldn’t provide their driver’s license even when some claim to have forgotten it at home, when given a chance to go pick it up, they still don’t come with it.
Ogungbemide, however, noted that “According to the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR) 2021, Regulation 67(1): ‘Any person driving a vehicle on any public Road shall be in possession of an original driver’s licence, but where the person is in possession of the photocopy of the original driver’s licence, he shall within 24 hours produce the original driver’s licence to the appropriate authority if demanded’.
He, therefore, said that all vehicles arrested will not be released until their drivers produce a valid driver’s license.
