Five Dead In An Auto Crash At The University Of Ilorin

Many are still in shock at the death of a student including a family of four at the University of Ilorin on Monday, who were involved in an auto crash.
It was learnt that the family of four included a father, who was the driver of a commercial minibus, his wife, who was also a worker at the university, and their two kids.
According to reports three of the victims died on the spot, while two others died on Tuesday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where they were receiving treatment.
A statement by the Institution comfirmed the incident, “The management of the University of Ilorin received with sadness the news of the unfortunate auto accident that occurred on campus on Monday evening. The said accident resulted in some fatalities, while some occupants of the cars involved also sustained varying degrees of injury.”
The accident was said to have occured around 9pm along the university dam.
It was said that the accident was caused by over speeding on the part of a private Car which ran into a tipper trying to climb a hill gently leaving two occupants of the private car sustaining severe injuries.
Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun,  said the varsity management sympathised with the families of those who lost their lives and the students who were injured in the accident.
It has often been said that the month of December is usually full of tragic scenes as compare to other months of the year.
Yesterday, at least 17 School Children were crushed dead by a trailer trying to run from officials of  Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at Grammer School Bus-stop along Ojodu-Berger, Lagos State.
The victims were all children of Grammar School which were trying to cross the road after the close of school hours.
Families and friends of the Victims have since been thrown into mourning.
It was reported that a brother and a sister of he same family was involved in the tragic.
The said trailer which was fully loaded with soap and some skincare products was immediately set ablaze by some angry youths who gave a Chase at the trailer.
