Chelsea football club have been fined £25,000 by the FA for not conducting their players properly after a red card was given to Reece James during the first half of their second premier league game of the new season with Liverpool which ended in a 1-1 draw.
A statement from the FA read:”Chelsea FC has been fined £25,000 for two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 which occurred during their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday 28 August 2021.
it also reads,
“The club admitted failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during both the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.”
The officiating Referee Anthony Taylor sent off the Chelsea defender after a goal-line handball, where the players argued that the ball touched his tigh before reaching his arms.
Kai Harvertz took the lead for Chelsea in the 22minute while Mohammed Salah equalised from the penalty spot in the 45+5 minute first half.
A more composed Chelsea defence held Liverpool to 1:1 draw despite all the goal scoring threat posed by jurgen klopp men in the second half.
Chelsea will lock horns with Aston Villa on Saturday after the international break. while, James will be out of the squad for selection as he serve his one match ban.
