#Endsars: US Looks Forward To Government’s Response

The United States says it “look forward to the Lagos State government’s response” in regards to the final report submitted by the Lagos Judicial panel of enquiry set up by the Lagos State Goverment to investigate issues surrounding  the #EndSARS protest.
The US Embassy in Nigeria in a statement said:
“We look forward to the Lagos State government’s response as part of a process that represents an important mechanism of accountability regarding the #EndSARS protests and the events that took place near the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.”
The US said this on Tuesday while reacting to the report submitted by the Lagos Judicial panel on Monday.
The panel submitted that the “Nigerian Army shot, injured and killed unarmed helpless and defenceless protesters, without provocation or justification, while they were waving the Nigerian Flag and singing the National Anthem and the manner of assault and killing could in context be described as a massacre.”
based on the report the UN said it’s waiting the reponse of the Lagos State Goverment as it concerns members of the security forces.
“Those events led to serious allegations against some members of the security forces, and we look forward to the Lagos State and federal governments taking suitable measures to address those alleged abuses as well as the grievances of the victims and their families”, the US statement included.
The judicial panel with conviction and evidences stated that at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds, or assaulted by soldiers who were at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020.
However, social media has since been bubbling with many Nigerians saying it’s the first time a report will be “so clear and have fear of God”
