In a bid to curb the surge of the deadly covid -19 virus that has killed over 650,000 Americans, president Joe Biden has given an order that mandates big organizations and businesses workers to be vaccinated or submits a weekly testing report for refused workers.
Speaking in an address at the White House on Thursday, the President directed the Department of Labour to ensure all companies with 100 or more staff take the vaccine or tender a weekly proof of a negative result of covid test from workers who may refuse to take the vaccine.
Mr, Biden maintained that the directives were not for any personal choice or gain rather, for the benefits of the Americans in combating the virus.
Millions of American workers will surely be affected when the new order fully takes into effect.
However, some Americans have kicked against the idea that in their own view, it’s still a way to force everyone to take the vaccine and that the president is not constitutionally empowered to force any actions on the citizens.
“This is not about freedom or personal choice, it’s about protecting yourself and those around you,” Joe Biden said as he unfolds a six-month plan.
