Barcelona have already turned their focus to other top targets in the market as Xavi attempts to finalize his team planning ahead of the new season amid all the hype around the impending arrival of Robert Lewandowski.

While the team has done well to bolster its offensive line, Barça’s defensive unit remains a problem. As a result, the club has made signing Jules Kounde a top priority.

Catalan giants Barcelona are anticipated to speed up their chase of Sevilla starlet Ousmane Dembele in the coming days because of the numerous reasons why the Frenchman has been regarded as the ideal defensive target for the Catalans.

An official Catalan bid for Kounde was made this week, according to Alvaro Munoz Gomez. They’re willing to pay a charge of about €58 million plus add-ons, but the journalist hasn’t defined the total value of the variables.

Kounde, who Sevilla reportedly values at €60-65 million, might be a great fit for Barcelona if the numbers prove to be correct.

One theory was that the surgery could be made more affordable by bringing in some of Barcelona’s more obscure players. Unfortunately for Barcelona, they have already lost Clement Lenglet (Philippe Coutinho) and Francisco Trincao to other clubs.

That’s why it’s possible the Blaugrana could only offer a cash-only deal. It’s hardly unexpected, given the club’s financial predicament, that they’re open to negotiating a payment schedule that includes several installments.

Although it is unlikely, if the deal is finalized, Kounde will be Barça’s sixth major investment this summer, joining the ranks of other high-profile names such as Andres Christensen and Franck Kessie as well as Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele.
