An ex-SGF has claimed that the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket is a plan to repress northern Christians.

At the APC northern Christian leaders gathering in Abuja on Friday, Lawal declared “clearly, there is a strategy to politically, religiously and economically subjugate the Northern Christian. But we’re ready for the challenge.”

The APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, selected Kashim Shettima, a Muslim former governor of Borno, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, one of the country’s most prominent religious groups, expressed shock at the news (CAN).

“We will protect ourselves,” says Lawal. In 2023, we want to use a large number of PVC and our prayers as our primary weapons.

Christians, Lawal said, will reject the Muslim-Muslim ticket’s agenda as it unfolds.

For the APC, running a Muslim-Muslim ticket has been an ongoing political tactic, not just an event in the party’s history. All of this rhetoric about the Muslim VP’s competency as a rationale for his selection is a sham and a distraction. The anti-Christian agenda that is being implemented is deliberate, he stated.

“Why is the APC itself silent about our rejection of this Muslim Muslim ticket?” How come no one else involved in this problem has attempted to engage in discourse with Christians? Instead, why are they appointing fictitious bishops and leading church organizations to cause further scandal? Instead of working toward a mutually beneficial relationship, they’ve chosen to wage a propaganda war against CAN and the Church. Honestly, things don’t add up.

“We perceive this ticket as a consent to the current and continued marginalization of Northern Nigerian Christians in education, economics, and politics.

“We see this scenario in all government agencies in the north.” The Muslim Muslim ticket is therefore seen as a continuation of this pattern of exclusion to government’s highest levels.

This Muslim Muslim ticket is seen as a purposeful and calculated attempt to incorporate and firmly implant religion in the politics of this country by Christians across the United States.” Nigeria’s delicate social coexistence will, of course, be further disrupted by this and will have a negative impact on both the country’s social as well as economic progress.”
