With the announcement that she was a Ballon d’Or finalist for 2022, Oshoala’s year continued on a high note.

A few weeks ago, Oshoala set a new record by becoming the first player in history to win the African Women’s Player of the Year title five times.

Her sensational year saw her become the Pichichi winner in Soain despite not being in action for two months.

At the 2022 WAFCON, when Nigeria’s Super Falcons ultimately placed fourth, she was hurt during the opening game against South Africa.

Twenty-one other athletes, including Selma Bacha, Fridolina Rolfo, Vivianne Miedema, Lucy Bronze, Sam Kerr, Christiane Endler, Lena Oberdorf, Kadidiatou Diani, Catarina Macario, and Alexia Putellas, were also nominated alongside Oshoala.

A few more are Millie Bright, Trinity Rodman, Ada Hegerberg, and Marie-Antoinette Katoto.

The 2022 women’s football field is stacked, and Oshoala must compete against some of the best players in the world.

Nigeria will look to the Super Falcons’ star to help them qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
