The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, was declared the winner of the Ekiti governorship election on Saturday.

The INEC returning officer, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, announced that Oyebanji had a total of 187,057 votes, making him the winner of the election.

Because Oyebanji had certified the law, he was deemed the winner, according to him.

It was revealed by the INEC returning officer, who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, that Mr Segun Oni of the SDP came second in the total votes scored by the participating political parties.

There were 989,224 registered voters and 363,438 credentialed, according to the INEC Returning Officer, 351865 valid ballots and 8888 canceled votes.

Professor Gbolagade Jonathan, the Ekiti South West Local Government Area Collation Officer, stated that ballot stealing had occurred in Ward 6 and Units 5 and 7 of the Ekiti Local Government Area.

A group of masked assailants invaded the targeted units and began firing randomly, forcing residents to flee for their lives while removing the voting boxes, according to Jonathan.

He clarified that there were 266 and 128 registered voters in each of the two impacted districts, respectively.
