Kylian Mbappe will miss this weekend’s Ligue 1 opener for Paris Saint-Germain against Clermont due to an adductor injury, the club said on Friday.

Mbappe was not included in the PSG squad that travelled to Clermont for Saturday’s game “because to soreness in his adductor muscles” and will instead receive therapy at home.

In 72 hours, a further update will be supplied.

Mbappe missed PSG’s season-opening Champions Trophy victory against Nantes in Tel Aviv, Israel last weekend owing to a suspension carried over from the previous year.

Christophe Galtier replaces the dismissed Mauricio Pochettino as Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-head Germain’s coach for their championship defense.

Lionel Messi and Neymar, who both scored against Nantes, are included in the squad alongside Vitinha, Hugo Ekitike, and Nordi Mukiele, who are fresh additions.

Renato Sanches, a Portuguese international midfielder, is the most recent addition to the Qatar-owned club, although he does not appear on the list of 21 players released on Friday.

On Thursday, Sanches arrived from Lille for a reported 15 million euros ($15.25 million).

Galtier, who guided Lille to the 2021 Ligue 1 championship, expressed his eagerness for the season to begin.

Galtier stated, “We do this profession to compete and experience every emotion.”

Training sessions and interviews are one thing, but competition is what we live for.

He said, “When PSG travels, it is frequently the biggest game of the season for the home team, and the stadiums are packed.

We want to begin the season in the greatest way possible.
