Amazon has now joined the likes of Walmart and Target to offer relief for its frontline workers.
In a recent blog post, Amazon revealed that it will cover tuition fee for all 750,000 of it frontline worker in the united state.
Many companies in the US has begun to up the pay of staff and many others in order to lure and retain workers in the competitive market.
Amazon said, it would invest $1.2bn in the exercise, while workers will be able to access annual funding for as long as they remain at Amazon.
Head of Worldwide consumer at Amazon Dave Clark said, “Amazon is now the largest job creator in the US, and we know that investing in free skills training for our teams can have a huge impact for hundreds of thousands of families across the country,”
A month ago Walmart said it would pay the costs of tuition and books for its hourly staffers, with about 1.5 million people eligible.
Similarly, Target said it would offer free undergraduate degrees to more than 340,000 employees at its US stores.
Some firms have gone as far as recruiting teens to apply for work inorder to reduce unemployment rate in the country.
