2021 African Cup of Nations: Nigeria Knocked Out By Tunisia

A disappointing night for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they are sent packing from Cameroon following a 1:0 loss to Tunisia in the round 16 of the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations on Sunday.
Many Nigerians expectedly will be shock at the Eagles elimination after emerging to the knockout stages with a perfect group stage record of three wins out of three.
Youssef Msakni scored the only goal that knocked out Nigeria two minutes into the second half and mounted  pressure there after.
Alex Iwobi got sent off in the 64th minute as Nigeria we’re reduced to ten men.
Substitute Umar Sadiq came close to grabbing an equalizer but his final ball went slowly across the face of goal.
Tunisia on the other hand played with tenacity and we’re very energetic all through the game. They were able to resist threat from Simon Moses down the wing  and was so problematic for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who took a promising shot on goal in the 80th minute.
Despite finishing as third best losers in this competition, Tunisia the 2004 African Champions were fantastic in their attack and was also defensively composed.
Nigeria will now go back to prepare for their final World Cup qualifiers play-off match With Ghana who failed to qualify from the group stage in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Burkina Faso was the first to secure a quarter final ticket in Cameroon after a long night of football action with Gabon.
Burkina Faso scored in the first half but was unable to hold on before Gabon grabbed a late equalizer despite being a man down.
After a 1:1 scoreline, both teams were left with penalty shoot out to split them.
At last, Burkina Faso stole the day after a long penalty shoot out with keepers from both teams to be credited.
