The Aseyin of Iseyin, a town in Oyo State, is said to have joined his forefathers according to reports.
At the University College Hospital in Ibadan, where the monarch had been hospitalized for some time, he was said to have died early Sunday morning.
According to reports in the town, his body will be taken from the hospital to the town tomorrow morning.
It was confirmed that the king had passed away by an Iseyin native who was a former member of the state house of assembly.
A former lawmaker who requested anonymity stated, “I called certain people when I heard the rumour in the morning.
Then this afternoon, they confirmed it to me,” I said.
There is no more Aseyin. On the morning of the following day, his body would be removed from the morgue.
Oyo State has seen the death of seven traditional rulers in the previous nine months alone.
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, was a prominent traditional leader who passed away on December 12th, 2021.
Olubadan Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, who died on January 2 this year, was the most recent Olubadan.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, passed away in April of this year.
