The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu on Tuesday said three students who are key suspects to the death of a 12-year -old student of Dowen College Lekki, Lagos is currently in the police custody.
The victim Sylvester Oromoni before his death was said to have mentioned five students of the College who beat him up and gave him some chemical substance to take.
Although, the commissioner did not identify the names of the suspects but says they are answering questions that is gradually going to unravel the exact cause of Sylvester’s death.
The news of Sylvester Oromoni rock social media last week when a family member went online to demand justice. The family member with a Twitter handle @Perrisonoromoni said Sylvester was assaulted by some senior students of Dowen College. He then added in series of tweets that Sylvester died after sustaining multiple internal injuries from being tortured and bullied.
In a bid for the family to pass their message accros a video was posted online where Sylvester Oromoni was seen groaning in pain, His legs were swollen and his tommy was swollen too.
The news lead to the closure of the school indefinitely by the Lagos State Goverment through the Ministry of Education which was announced on Friday.
In an earlier statement before the closure the Management of Dowen College claimed that Sylvester was injured while playing football.
In a recent development, the victim family is said to have hired the chamber of a popular human rights lawyer and activist, Femi Falana in order to prosecute it’s case against the College over the death of their beloved.
However, Police authorities have assured that it will get to the root of the incident that led to Sylvester’s death and due justice will be served on the matter.
