FIFA have confirmed a complaint filled by Benin Republic and South Africa in relation to their World qualifers loss.
South Africa lost 1:0 to Ghana on Sunday and crashed out of the final qualifing stage of 2022 World Cup.
A controversial penalty was awarded to the black stars of Ghana by Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette, which Andre Ayew scored that made the difference in the game.
In reaction to the outcome of the game, the South African FA rejected the result and demanded that FIFA investigate if the penalty awarded was a right call.
FIFA has acknowledge the complaint and says its set to review it.
“We have received a complaint from the South African FA in relation to this matter and will review it,” FIFA said.
South Africa are demanding that the match be replayed stating that Ghanaian player Daniel Amartey
dived in the eighteen yard box to deceive the referee. they argue it was a wrong call.
The Bafana Bafana recalled a 2018 World Cup qualifers win over Senegal that got cancelled following a wrongly awarded penalty scored. When the match was replayed, Senegal won and head to Russia 2018.
That aside, Benin Republic also submitted a complain over their 2:0 loss to Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC).
Benin stated that the Congolese made four substitutions on four separate occasions during the top-of-the-table clash.
Meanwhile, FIFA regulations permit sides to make up to five substitutions during a match, but only during three windows.
“We have asked FIFA to take the relevant measures after this obvious violation of the rules,” a Beninese sports ministry official said
