On the 21st of June, 2022, soldiers from the 13th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, which was operating under the command of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, stopped a Toyota Camry car with the license plate number JAL 492 AA that was carrying a variety of weapons as it travelled from the village of Utanga to the Obudu Mountains in the state of Cross River.
At their checkpoint, the soldiers stationed at Forward Operating Base Amana attempted to halt the vehicle, but the driver escaped the checks and sped off.
Due to the stubbornness of the drivers, the soldiers were forced to open fire on the tires of the truck, which rendered it unable to move forward.
A comprehensive examination of the truck revealed that it was transporting 72 IED chargers, 121 dynamite liquid cartridges, 200 rounds of 7.62 mm (NATO) ammunition, and 82 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. All of these items were found during the search.
In addition to these materials, which were found in the vehicle that was stopped, there were also military uniforms and kits.
We would like to respectfully request that members of the public continue to provide credible information to our armed forces in order to assist them in putting a stop to the rising tide of insecurity across the country.
