Barcelona young star Ansu Fati has penned down his signature for a new contract at the Camp Nou that will keep him in the club till 2027 on Thursday.
The Catalans giant placed a release clause worth €1billion (£846m) on the player. Fati had earlier noted that he just wants to continue his career at Barcelona.
Despite claims by other European clubs to double the young star wage he has turned down all interest to commit his future to Barcelona.
Fati reportedly turned down Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to commit his future to the Nou Camp.
After losing Lionel Messi and Griezman to PSG and Atletico Madrid respectively, Barcelona is willing to keep their young stars.
Fati who turns 19 at the end of the month, despite suffering a serious injury in November 2020, resulting in 10 months out, Ansu Fati has played 48 first-team games for FC Barcelona, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists. 13 of the goals were scored in La Liga (two this season), with the other two in the Champions League.
On the club’s official website, “Ansu Fati became the second-youngest Barça player to ever debut for the first-team in La Liga on August 25, 2019, aged just 16 years and 298 days old, with only Vicente Martínez making an earlier debut in the history of the Club aged 16 years, 9 months, and 7 days old. Ansu then achieved another milestone a week after his debut when he became Barça’s youngest ever player to score in La Liga against Osasuna.”
