The Federal Government expressed hope on Friday that recent accords negotiated with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and other education unions will bear fruit next week.
This was said in a statement made on Friday by Olajide Oshundun, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
According to the statement, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, made the claim while speaking to reporters immediately after a meeting about the continuing strike activities by unions in the education sector.
Remember that ASUU, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and other public university unions went on strike after the federal government failed to satisfy their demands.
“We had a friendly and successful discussion; we looked at the issues objectively and established some compromises, to the pleasure of everyone in attendance,” Ngige added.
“We spoke about it. Everyone was content. We established some agreements, and we anticipate that those accords will begin to mature by next week.”
