The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Walid Jubril, has stated that the party will select a consensus presidential candidate ahead of its primary election scheduled for the end of the month. Jubril said this to media while answering questions at the PDP secretariat in Lafia on Tuesday. According to him, he was in the state to meet with presidential hopefuls who were visiting the state in order for them to come up with an acceptable candidate for the party under the consensus accord. "The NEC has already stated that there would be no zoning and no consensus." But there is a gap right now, so we need to revisit that prior choice and come up with a consensus candidate," the BoT chairman added. "We have decided to sit down and really study it and come up with a viable candidate to lead our party in the contest." "We are not discouraging any aspirant from running, but we must resolve to consensus." All aspirants from the south east, south west, and north are collaborating to reach an agreement."
