The shaky national energy grid of Nigeria has once again collapsed, leaving many towns, including the federal capital Abuja, in the dark. Electricity providers reported late Sunday that the outage happened shortly before 7 p.m. It is the sixth collapse documented in 2022, however it is possible that the number is greater. Friday Elijah, head of corporate communication, stated, "The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc desires to inform the general public that the current outage is the consequence of a system failure." He continued, "We hope to restore supply as soon as supply is restored." The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc stated, "EEDC desires to alert her respected customers of a system failure that happened at 6:49 p.m. today, June 12th, 2022."
