Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the pan-Yoruba sociopolitical organization Afenifere, has endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate (LP).

Adebanjo stated on Tuesday that Obi is able to “reign autonomously” and would not disappoint Nigerians if he wins the presidential election in 2023.

Adebanjo stated on Yoruba Gbode, an online radio program, that he had lost faith in Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adebanjo stated that Tinubu sold President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians in 2015, adding that if elected, he would continue “incompetence.”

“Only Peter Obi can govern independently without the influence of these government crooks. He stated that Tinubu will just perpetuate Buhari’s incapacity.

We endorsed Peter Obi because we have a close relationship with him. He will not disappoint Nigerians, therefore let’s set aside our ethnic divisions and elect the best leader.

“Tinubu sold Buhari to more than 200 million Nigerians in pursuit of his own egocentric desire to reign after Buhari. None of them are fond of Nigeria.

The leader of Afenifere stated that the south-east should be entrusted with authority and that the region deserved to rule the nation.

“Easterners are also Nigerians, and they have the right to lead.” If elected, I am confident that Peter Obi will not submit himself to the northerners like Tinubu and Atiku would,” he continued.
