Defeating Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in Agadir, Morocco, the Super Eagles have rehabilitated their reputation ahead of the current 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

With the win, the Eagles now lead Group A by six points over Guinea Bissau, who play Sierra Leone in the other group matchup later Monday evening.

The forward for Napoli, Victor Osimhen, was responsible for four of the team’s ten goals.

After a victory over the Leone Stars in Abuja on Thursday that was not particularly convincing, the Super Eagles made a commitment to rehabilitate their image by scoring a lot of goals against the much weaker So Tomé & Principe.

Osimhen kept their word and started the goals pouring in just 10 minutes into the game, which was played on a beautiful green pitch that was significantly better than the one at the Abuja stadium.

The Napoli forward scored a goal with a header off a cross from Moses Simon coming in from the left side of the field. Because Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong were not there, Simon served as captain for the day.

Both Osimhen and Simon were involved in Nigeria’s second goal, which was scored by Simon with Osimhen providing the assist. This time, the goal was scored after 28 minutes.

Terem Moffi scored his first goal for the Super Eagles as the clock was ticking down to the half time break. He removed his marker inside the area before firing the ball past Eba Viegas, who was guarding the goal post for Sotome.

Ademola Lookman provided the assist with a cross from the right side, which Osimhen headed into the net to score his second goal of the day in the 48th minute after returning from the halftime break.

Oghenekaro Etebo made it 5-0 for the Eagles when he curled a free kick from the edge of the box into the far corner of the net in the 55th minute.

Moffi scored his second goal on the hour mark as he finished a low cross from inside the area that was provided by Zaidu Sanusi.

After another four minutes had passed, Lookman added to his team’s lead by scoring a goal after Moffi had been denied by the goalkeeper for Sao Tome.

Osimhen finished off his hat trick a minute later by getting on the end of a through ball and then stabbing the ball past the goalkeeper of the other team to make it 3-0.

After that, he scored his fourth goal in the 84th minute using a similar play as the previous one.

The striker for Napoli currently has 15 goals scored for Nigeria in international competition.

After that, in the last seconds of the conflict, he hit the post.

After being hauled down inside the penalty area, the replacement player Emmanuel Dennis scored the decisive goal in the final minute of play from the position where the foul had been committed.
