INEC has set June 17 as the deadline for political parties to submit candidate lists for the 2023 general election.

INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu talked Thursday about the commission’s Abuja efforts.

This means candidates must name running partners before June 17.

“I want to reassure Nigerians that the Commission remains dedicated to registering all people,” he stated.

“This is why we’re meeting. Some Resident Electoral Commissioners have sought more voter registration machines.

“The commission will promptly deploy extra machines.” The commission will then review the exercise and make judgments.

“We will always respond favorably to Nigerians’ needs. We ask for patience as we work to serve them better.” We applaud Nigerians’ eagerness to vote. No one will be left out, I promise.

“All political party primaries for the 2023 general election end today, June 9, 2022.

All political parties must submit their list of national election candidates by Friday, June 17, 2022, one week from today, June 10.

INEC’s chairman said parties must submit governorship candidates and running mates by July 15.

“For state elections (governorship/deputy governorship and state houses of assembly), the list of candidates will be uploaded from 1-15 July 2022,” he stated.

All political parties must input candidate details to INEC’s Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP).

“Four officials from each of the 18 political parties were taught on the nomination form upload method. Each political party has a confidential portal access code to upload its nominations.

“To emphasize, the commission wants to remind political parties that only candidates who emerged through democratic primaries must be submitted to the Commission.

“The list of presidential and governorship candidates must include their running partners, or the nomination is void. All nominations must be submitted on time.
