Peter Obi Is Officially Labour Party's Presidential Flag-Bearer

The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has approved Peter Obi as the Labour Party‘s presidential flag-bearer. In response to this endorsement, the Labour Party (LP) has stated that there is no faction inside the party.

This announcement was made by Umar Ibrahim, the national secretary of the party, while he was speaking to reporters on Friday in the city of Kaduna.

According to Mr. Ibrahim, “there is no division in LP; rather, it exists only in the mind of those who serve as foot soldiers for those who are hostile to Nigeria and Nigerians.” “Both the leadership and the members of the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) have acknowledged and given their support to Obi’s bid for the presidency.”

He emphasized that “Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is the authentic presidential candidate of the party.” He added that “Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi was duly elected at a convention organized by the leadership of Mr. Julius Abure as National Chairman, supervised and recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”

Mr. Ibrahim stated that the LP had become the new bride for the majority of Nigerians who yearned for credible political leadership and saw it as the only credible alternative to give Nigerians the president they desperately needed to save the country. He asserted this by saying that the LP had become the new bride for the majority of Nigerians who yearned for credible political leadership.

After that, he pleaded with the people of Nigeria, particularly those living in the South-East, to keep their attention on the task at hand.

“Instead,” he advised, “you should organize support for Mr. Peter Obi and utilize the LP in his mission to free Nigeria from the shackles of godfatherism.”

Another faction of the party had indicated that they would be supporting Jude Ezenwafor for president, but he later apologized to Mr. Obi and handed over the party’s support to Mr. Obi.

In the meantime, Festus Okoye, the spokesman for INEC, had earlier announced that Peter Obi would emerge victorious in the LP presidential primary, which took place on May 30 in Asaba, Delta state. Obi was the candidate with the most votes.
