NLC Call For Reversal Of Power Sector Privatisation

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has called for a reversal of the privatisation of the power sector, stating that promises made before the privatisation has not been fulfilled.
This is according to the NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba during the union’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja.
Mr.  Ayuba said that the privatisation of the power sector has “failed” and therefore according to him it will right to have a reversal.
“We have said that the privatisation of the power sector has failed, and clearly before the privatisation, a lot of promises had been made, that power is going to be affordable, that it is going to be stable, and that there will be no challenge,” he said.
He added that,
“all of us are aware that five years down the line, nothing has improved, and we have demanded that the privatisation of the power sector should absolutely be reversed because it has not actually provided any headway into addressing the challenge that was very evident before the privatisation process.
With the reality of the Nigerian power system, citizens on daily basis decry the rate of power outage in the country.
It’s no news that some towns and cities stay without power for weeks which many argue that it add to the security challenges of the country.
