On Wednesday, the electricity law, which is intended to increase the utilization of power that is created, was passed via the Senate.

The generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Nigeria have been subpar for many years, and the country’s several different governments have been unable to improve the situation.

However, Senator Gabriel Suswam, chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, stated during his presentation on the floor of the Senate that the purpose of the bill is to, amongst other things, offer an ideal legal and institutional framework to harness the modest advantages of the privatization phase of the electric power industry in Nigeria. This was stated by Senator Gabriel Suswam.

According to what he had to say, the bill would “reinvigorate the Institutional framework for the reform of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry launched and implemented by the Federal Government.”

He also stated that the provisions of the bill include promoting policies and regulatory measures that would ensure the expansion of power transmission networks in Nigeria in order to address any imbalance in the existing transmission infrastructure. He said this during his discussion of the Electricity Bill’s provisions.
