The PDP convention is expected to elect its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The EFCC, the anti-corruption agency, has explained why its agents are present at the Peoples Democratic Party’s national convention (PDP).
It was previously reported that EFCC officials were present at the PDP convention, which is currently taking place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
According to PREMIUM TIMES EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the situation “Yes, we have officers at the convention,” Mr Uwujaren confirmed. “We are there to observe the PDP presidential primary activities.”
When asked how many officials were deployed to the convention site, Mr Uwujaren replied, “I do not have such a number with me.”
Before the 2023 general elections, the EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, promised to monitor campaign finances, including the legitimacy of funds used to purchase political party nomination forms.
The PDP convention is expected to elect its presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The main contenders for the ticket are Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, as well as former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
