At least one dead and many reportedly injured following a fire outbreak at one of the hostel of the Taraba State University.
According to report and video circulating online the incident happened at the female hostel where a 100- level female Student lost her lives due to the fire outbreak.
In a phone conversation, a student of the Institution Rasheedat said that the fire broke out on Friday night when Students were at sleep.
She said the victim Enuseh Lawi was a student of the Tourism Department of the university.
She reportedly inhaled smoke, which led to her being unconscious.
Narrating the incident, Rasheedat said: “we were all at sleep when the fire started. When some of us woke up to see the fire, we hurriedly ran to help each other but Enuseh could not survive as she has already inhalled too much smoke before her door was forcefully open”
The victim was said to have gave up the ghost at the hospital where she was rushed to.
The chief information officer of the university, Sanusi Saad, said the Institution has began investigation into the cause of the fire outbreak in order to prevent future occurrences.
Some of the students submits that the fire was caused by an electric wire spark.
The exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed but Enuseh death has been affirmed.
