There will be a change in leadership in the nation’s court on Monday with the scheduled swearing-in as CJN of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola following the abrupt departure of CJN Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.

When asked about when the swearing-in of Justice Ariwoola  as new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah’s media aide hinted that it would take place on Monday afternoon after Justice Tanko Muhammad announced his resignation as CJN.

For reasons of his health, it was reported that Justice Muhammad had resigned from his position as head of the nation’s court.

Those who remember last week’s accusations against CJN by 14 of his fellow Justices of the Supreme Court will recall.

On Sunday, it was reported that Justice Muhammad had resigned, but it wasn’t until Monday morning that the news of his departure was made public.

The CJN, who was scheduled to start a workshop for judges at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), was represented at the event by a Supreme Court Justice, Justice Suleiman Galadima, according to reports.
If you recall, Chief Justice Tanko in response to the highest court judges’ protest letter remarked that their actions amounted to “dancing nude in the marketplace” and exonerated himself of any fault in doing so.
